User Audits
Hoy & Dorman are committed to delivering schemes in the built environment, which benefit the widest cross-section of society, often promoting the needs of vulnerable infrastructure users above all others. We work with infrastructure owners and facilities managers to ensure that all users have adequate safety and access.
Hoy & Dorman has extensive experience in:
- Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) Audits
- Non-motorised User (NMU) Audits
- Cycle Audits
- Preparation of Guidelines or Policy
Provision of DDA compliance reports on new or existing building entrances can help decide priorities of future planned expenditure. A DDA report highlights a commitment to planning for the future all inclusive access to facilities for all users without discrimination.
Major infrastructure owners including highway authorities and private infrastructure owners are frequently asked by vulnerable road users (pedestrians/cyclists) to improve infrastructure to improve safety. Hoy & Dorman is able to assess risks quickly and produce a short report with practical recommendations.
Hoy & Dorman regularly undertake cycle audits of existing infrastructure to identify improvements that benefit cyclists. Hoy & Dorman’s cycle audits are undertaken “on-bike” using the IHT guidelines and a wealth of experience from designing schemes in accordance with Sustrans and IHT best practice.
Hoy & Dorman provide assistance to infrastructure owners in the preparation of policy or guidance related to road safety audits, cycle audits, NMU’s or DDA’s. This often ranges from running a focus group workshop to the preparation of comprehensive guidelines.
